Often, we make decisions based upon our own assessments of reality, only to find we are dead wrong. We must trust God's instructions, even when they don't seem to "make sense" to us.

Most importantly, we should not move on any decision without God's direction. (I guess it's time for the song of invitation so I can come forward now.)

"In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight."
or, "he will direct your paths."

I am always amazed at the way our culture seems to idolize efficiency and expediency. How might that also be said of Joshua and his people?

When assessing situations, circumstances and events looking for answers as to how to respond to them we often find that we are bombarded with an information overload. There is the the sphere of "PERSONAL HUMAN EXPERIENCE then there is the sphere of EXPERT OPINION which is often collected and categorized for easy research and presented as expertise, then there is the sphere of SCIENTIFIC INVESTIGATION and everybody knows that science always gets it right. It's quite complex. This process however is exactly the process Joshua and others used in the GIBEONITE predicament and it left them making a very critical error. If only they had relied on the UNIQUE information source (GOD'S WORD) they would have had plenty of perfect knowledge to employ for their decision making process. However they gave in to the bombardment of a complex information source that was insufficient and deficient. How arrogant of them to think they could figure it all out. How often have I been this arrogant? Way to often!
