Ike Graul made a comment in passing once that for every gift his kids get at Christmas they have to give two of their toys away. I am not sure that is a practice they have every year, but it made a great impression on me. Every year our boys compile their Christmas list and go to their closets and pick at least two toys for every one they are asking for, sometimes they gather up 3 or 4 to one ;). We then take them to a local children shelter.

Then we go Christmas Shopping for kids that are less fortunate so we can also donate new toys. That's what we do in an effort to try to keep the season about more than just stuff.
