The brilliant colors and the light in this Pepperdine chapel motivated me to take these four shots today.  Which of these four would be your favorite?  Why?

By the way - Photo #1 features Mitch Wilburn of the Park Plaza church, leading a devotional at the 7:30 AM "Morning Praise" during the Pepperdine Lectures.  Photos #2, 3 and 4 were taken of Ken Nafziger of Harrisonburg, Virginia.  His series is entitled, "Singing With The Mennonites: Another A cappella Perspective."

Thanks for your comments!

While recovering from jet lag and preparing for my classes at Pepperdine this week, we paid a quick visit to the Santa Monica Pier.

I passed on the opportunity to get my photo taken with a celebrity.

I need some blue shoes like this guitarist.

See all my random shots at the Santa Monica Pier Gallery.

I didn't get the focus just right, but managed to capture this young lad during a quick stop in between Dunedin and Christchurch.

View Article  Melbourne Artist
While enjoying the beautiful city of Melbourne, Australia, we came across this artist at the Victoria Market.  After asking for permission to snap his picture, I took this HDR of him, working beside his van and producing some amazing paintings.

I am enjoying capturing vivid colors.  Melbourne is an exciting city to visit.

I've been in a dry spell lately as far as new pics, so I grabbed the camera and took advantage of the lovely weather this week.

The third skate boarder has his own camera in hand.  The fourth one is the only one standing, but all of them seem to be having a great time.

Recently, life has been so busy (in a good way), that I haven't enjoyed any time off.  After developing the habit of taking my camera everywhere as necessary equipment,  my picture-taking has slowed drastically.  Even our trip to St. Petersburg was filled with work-related catch-up (time to break out the violins, ha)  Nevertheless, the weekend proved to be an unbelievable experience with God's people.  I did manage to break the camera out for a few minutes to capture this dusk scene in beautiful Clearwater, Florida.

Dusk and dawn are the absolute best times to take pictures.

I'd like to thank Derek Sachs for all his assistance this year, including helping me with this blog.
I submitted four of my 2008 favorites to a photo contest this morning:

Beale Street Sunset
Memphis, Tennessee

Old North Church Reflections
Boston, Mass

Times Square Evening
New York, New York

The Crescent House
Valdosta, Georgia

Which one would be your favorite of these four pictures?

2008 has been a wonderful year of travel.  Sharon and I have been so richly blessed through all the wonderful people and churches we worked with this year.  It was a year in which my photography interests grew rapidly.  Thank you for indulging me as I regularly post samplings of my photos on this "Hearing Voices" blog.

The most important "image" is the One whom we honor in a very special way this season:

"The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being,
sustaining all things by his powerful word.
After he had provided purification for sins,
he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven."

He is indeed, the "King of Kings" and the "Lord of Lords," and He shall reign forever and ever.

Merry Christmas!

A few months ago, I did not know what HDR was.  Now it is my current favorite method of photography.  So much so, I have opened a new gallery that is dedicated just to HDR favorites.

I can't remember how many years it has been (twenty plus?) since we've visited Manhattan.

HDR Photo - Mono Pod - Wide Angle Lens

I hope you enjoy my photos as much as I enjoy taking them!  I'm capturing a lot of HDR photos in NYC.

We're staying in a hotel where the Clinton global initiative is taking place.  The United Nations are in session this week and news is all around us.  It was fun watching the evening news tonight at Times Square on the giant screen television monitor with closed captioning.
