Who else is into photography? I'm really enjoying learning new skills with this craft. Are some of you professionals, or mostly amateurs?

I'm slowly getting into it. I got my first DSLR (Nikon D40x) this past Christmas. I've done a lot of reading and practicing. Coming from point-and-shoot, there's a bit to learn when it comes to aperture, shutter speed, and ISO speed.
This one (http://photos.linuxwebguy.com/v/200805disneycruise/20080518_210037.jpg.html) has to be one of my favorites. Looking forward to seeing you and AVB next month in Kansas! Re: Re: Nashville Tennessee's Centennial Park

Re: Nashville Tennessee's Centennial Park
Keith,
I've really enjoyed your pictures and I am very interested in photography (as an amateur). After 6 years or so of "point and shoot" I made the plunge into DSLR photography in April (Sony A350, vertical grip, HVL42 Flash, SAL 18-250mm f3.5/6.3, Tamron 17-50MM f2.8, Minolta 50mm f1.4, and both kit lens, which will likely be sold soon). My interest (and the amount of my investment) in photography has grown significantly as a result. I don't get to travel much, but I have taken photos at several weddings (being careful to have it cleared with the photographer for the wedding first), two family reunions, Astros family night for my law firm, a trip to the Houston Zoo and the Science Museum. I'm looking forward to shooting the Red Bull Art of Can at the Houston Galleria. I will be posting those on my SmugMug site either Sunday or Monday (www.legalclicks.smugmug.com). I have really enjoyed the SmugMug account. It is fun to watch statistics on the number of hits you get (one wedding has had almost 12,000 hits in a little over two weeks). I also enjoy the ability it gives you to customize your pages and galleries, although I have more to learn about it to use that feature to its full extent. By the way, if anyone is interested, go to Keith's SmugMug page (www.acappella.smugmug.com and you can find a code that will give you $5 off your first year's subscription). Thanks Randy for the plug for my photo galleries. Glad to have another Sony fan too! - KL

I love photography, but I'm just an amateur. My dad taught photography for years, though.

On the third photo, I like how the sky starkly contrasts with the Parthenon. On the fourth one, I enjoyed being able to see the various textures of the building. - KL
Re: Nashville Tennessee's Centennial Park
I love photography. I got my first cam when i was abut 8 i think and have been snappin ever since.ITs only now im trying to learn all the finer points of composure, lighting, iso speeds and all that.i Practice on anything and everything. I love coming up with creative shots that are unconventional. i Use a Canon IS S2-1 step between a d-slr and a regular point and shoot.I experiement with the wide angle lens.its fun.Next year im considering upgrading to DSLR when ifeel a bit more secure in the Art itself. I think other than keith i problably took the most pics at Acafest 08 lol.
