Well, folks, this week's poll was statistically pretty straight-forward. How many prefer standing praise teams, and how many prefer seated praise teams?
There were 25 votes total.
Standing: 18 votes, or 72%
Seated: 7 votes, or 28%

When we started the praise team ministry at Madison, the leaders decided that the team would be a seated team. If the choice had been totally up to me, I may have chosen a standing team. Yet, now that I have worked with a seated team for so many years, I can really see the benefits of going this route, especially in a setting where controversy is likely (as with most things new).
I like standing teams when all the team members are very demonstrative of heart-felt worship (within their different personalities), providing a contagious atmosphere that draws, even the disconnected and distracted people (aren't we all distracted by problems, issues, etc.?) into a meaningful worship experience. I keep coming back to our primary goal - drawing people to Jesus (not to a "system"). Thanks for sharing your thoughts! |
