Where else can you find guitars growing out of the sidewalks?
I love to play guitar. How many guitarists read this blog?
What style to you play?

Re: Nashvegas
i grew up in nashville (madison), and i own several guitars. i have been known to try to make music on them. in most places, people say, "hey! he's not bad." however, having been reared in the music city, i wouldn't call myself a "guitarist!"

Roger, what is the model of the black acoustic guitar you own?
Re: Re: Re: Nashvegas
That's a sweet Guild JF 30. It plays great, and I love the jumbo sound. You sure made it sound good when you backed up your girls with it. That's the guitar my son covets the most!
Re: Nashvegas
Third attempt to post this comment. I've played for about 40 years. Also play banjo, some keyboards and some drums. I presently own 9 guitars and play rock, blues, country, folk, bluegrass, and mostly contemporary Christian. Aside from my family, it is the joy of my life and being in a church of Christ that allows a praise band on Sunday evenings, I have found even greater joy in that expression of praise and worship.

Hey, Keith...I got to see "the warehouse band" (that the right name?) perform one time after hours at acafest...I remember you playing guitar, mo on bass, one of your daughters on keyboards, and john laws..playing something! but i really enjoyed it. I love acoustic guitar and I love to finger pick...as far as style, I love anything that I can listen to and learn...I also like to write songs for acoustic guitar...what else but spanish songs de amor! Its also fun to try and do some great Aca songs. "Father" was one I enjoyed playing at family gatherings.

The "Warehouse Band" was a lot of fun. Especially playing those (even at that time) "oldies" from the 60's. I still have some trombones that I picked up to complete our horn section. I always liked playing in bands that had horn sections. Helped me to start arranging!

And what are your favorite guitars? My favorite acoustic is my Martin D-28. My favorite electric is a Paul Reed Smith.

I've been playing since I was 8. Just turned 55 (woo-hoo senior citizen discounts!!). I've played most styles, but my personal style is acoustic ballad. I have 8 or 9 instruments, including 2 classicals, a 1987 Gibson WRC electric, bass and banjo. I also am a percussionists and most of the bands I've been in I was the drummer. I've been teaching guitar and percussion at Oklahoma Christian University for over 30 years.
As a Registered Piano Tuner I manage to get around on the piano pretty well also. And here I am in the a cappella churches of Christ all my life. However, there have been many opportunities to use these instrumental gifts in worship and I'm sure many more are on the horizon. My wife is a musician too and so we've got some kids that we're able to make music with as well. It's a great time when the "family band" gets together. www.brucemusical.com Re: Re: Nashvegas

Hey Gary, I started playing guitar when I was eight years old too. My first guitar was a Fender Mustang with a Fender "Champ" Amp. Sounds like you are immersed in music!

I started playing cello in 6th grade. That led to guitar in 7th, banjo in 9th, mandolin in 10th, fiddle in 11th and I've gone through life adding more instruments as I had time or reason. My guitar instructor started me with a classical picking style and that influenced everything else. My main guitar is a good old road worthy Takamine acoustic small body. But I also have a Martin electric. Looks and feels like a heavy strat with a different head piece. Anyone ever seen one of those? They only made them for about 3 years in the mid-80's.
And like Gary Bruce, I too have spent my life in the a cappella world (with the exception of 18 months as an instrumental worship leader in south Texas). Go figure... Re: Nashvegas

Been playin' all my life. Now I have a Martin HD-28. Pickin' the bluegrass and acoustic gospel. Just picked up a gorgeous Taylor 912-C for a move to include a shade of contemporary christian.
