Jim Hackney shared the most amazing story with us on our recent trip to Keller, Texas.  Jim has served the Midtown Church, near downtown Ft. Worth for many years.

The leadership of the Midtown Church felt moved by God to relocate to a growing area of north Ft. Worth, but a major obstacle was the need to sell their building.

In the year 2000, a tornado struck downtown Ft. Worth and destroyed the building where Calvary Academy and Calvary International Church met.

The Midtown leadership heard of this catastrophic event and reached out to the "homeless" Calvary Academy and invited them to use the Midtown building for their school.  Subsequently, they did the same for the Calvary Church (Pentecostal) - all rent free. Talk about "giving a cup of cold water."  Midtown would use the auditorium on Sunday mornings and Calvary in the evenings.

Realizing that Midtown wanted to relocate, Calvary offered to purchase the Midtown property at a very fair price, allowing Midtown to continue meeting there and have offices while building their new building - rent free.   Calvary even offered for Midtown to continue having their assemblies on Sunday mornings.  Eventually, the Midtown Church moved to a school to begin meeting in their new area and to prepare for ministering in their new location.

A long story short - Midtown reached out to a church in need and greatly blessed them.  Calvary blessed Midtown by purchasing the property, enabling the launch of this new church in Keller, thriving as the Heritage Church.  This is an amazing story of care and cooperation that caused the media and unchurched people to have some very positive impressions.

And now you know the rest of the story.
