This growing church in Laurel hosted a Praise & Harmony workshop this weekend and the members were very well prepared.  Their diligence in learning and practicing the songs using the training discs was obvious – which made the workshop all the more effective.

Michael Ray challenged the congregation to have a “vibrant” and “vigorous” worship.  The Laurel congregation, which enjoys about 100 more in attendance than a year ago, did not hesitate to offer enthusiastic praise to God this morning.  In our session last night, we found participants who traveled all the way from Michigan, Florida and North Carolina to be a part of this workshop.

Because of the location near Washington, D.C., this congregation is comprised of many fascinating members who are employed by the federal government – some in top secret roles.  Located very close to the National Security Administration, some have humorously dubbed Laurel as the “NSA Church of Christ.”  They have recently launched "life groups" and are very outreach-minded.

It is not uncommon to have only a small number attending our specialized “worship leaders” sessions, but yesterday afternoon we were blessed with a large number of folks seeking to learn about worship leadership.  It was perhaps one of our best sessions on this topic thus far.

This is a lively, dedicated body of believers.  I'll be looking forward to hearing great reports out of Laurel, Maryland!
