Who plans the worship assemblies at your church?
1. One person? (perhaps the worship leader?)
2. Two people? (the leader plus the preacher?)
3. A team? (a committee or a group?)

Re: Worship Survey: Worship Planner
At Newburgh, Indiana, we formed the worship committee almost two months, ago. Below is the documentation that we created for our effort. We would welcome ideas from others on this blog.
We want to work to make our worship beneficial, uplifting, and directed to the awesome God we serve. We will encourage the church to learn new songs, plan special services, and make sure the needs of worshippers are being met by developing plans that are purposeful in form and function. Goals and purpose of this committee: 1. Relevance – to meet the needs of this church. 2. Environment – a worshipful attitude. 3. We need to plan some special services. 4. People sharing – we need testimonies giving people role models for expressing our faith. 5. We need to be based in the scripture. 6. We need planned spontaneity. 7. We need more involvement of people. Going forward: 1. We will meet two more times to further define the worship services. 2. We will form subcommittees. The chairs of these committees will work independently of the worship committee. 3. Eventually, we will meet on a monthly basis to develop the activities of the subcommittees. Actually, at my congregation, it's:
1) Me (the worship leader) The preacher often supplies his general sermon topic (and particular video, if he has one to use), but we don't get time to plan together. Re: Worship Survey: Worship Planner

Our church plans worship through the leader, who coordinates the set list and practice times. Our pastor works with the worship leader to discuss the topic of the service with enough time to help determine some of the songs. We use Church Director to coordinate the volunteer vocalists, musicians, and media support teams. This was especially useful when we have a multi-site church.
Re: Worship Survey: Worship Planner
On general level, I seek input from the congregation as a whole, especially from folks who have a heart for our worship assemblies. Week to week I do the planning with input from our preacher.

I plan each worship service with input from the preacher about his topic, and a couple of song suggestions. He usually suggests songs that I never grew up singing, and don't know, but they are good for this congregation. So it has been good for me because I have learned many of the oldies that I never knew.
