Matt Straughn and Ryan Smith have been compiling photos for the Acappella.org web site. Matt's intention is to assemble a "time-line" history depicting Acappella's 25 years. Believe me, there are a lot of scary pictures!

Wow.
I'm definitely looking forward to those pictures. Can't wait to see the finished time-line. It's all for Jesus. K. Blake Irwin II Re: Blast from the Past

Keith,
I was looking through my "archives" a while back and came across the 45 RPM single with this picture of you and Rodney on the cover...I showed it to my kids and one of them said, " Wow, Dad that's a big CD!" Leonard Jarman Re: Re: Re: Re: Blast from the Past

Leonard, that is funny. A big CD? Kids don't know what "45's" are! Hey, we are going to get a lot of groups to come to ACAFEST this summer. Remember "back in the day?"
Re: Blast from the Past
WOW!!!!! I just had a flashback to the 8th grade. Was this picture taken BEFORE or AFTER your throat cancer/vocal cord chainsaw accident that left you vocally paralyzed for the latter 80's? Or some other crazy rumor like that. :)

That would be a great blog topic for you Keith. I know many of us heard rumors of your vocal demise.

My standard answer was, "They amputated from the neck up, and now I'm doing much better." :)

That was a time when I was trying to do everything. I mean, I taught all the arrangements by rote. At that time, I was singing almost all the leads. I handled a lot of the booking (on the telephone) and was involved in road managing (again, using my voice constantly). I did most of the emceeing. On top of all that, we talked with people for a long time after concerts, speaking above loud noise levels. Because of all this combined use of my voice, I developed severe laryngitis, which forced me off the road for a period of time. During that time, we considered re-arranging the group (not having it centered around my voice), which is why we transitioned from the Lancaster/Britt duet to add the voices of Pendergrass, Dean and Moyers to a new "quartet" sound.

Rodney is singing with our friends in Texas, Sounds Of Glory. They are working in the studio this week, finishing an album of "signature songs." Can't wait to hear their sound with Rodney's bass support!
