View Article  Reunion Concert: How Soon Until The Next One?
In 2002, we enjoyed the 20th Anniversary Reunion Concert in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Every reunion has unique characteristics.  This year was a special treat as the concert featured no backing tracks (except closing song, "Well On My Way"), and the combinations of singers required to pull off those arrangements were electrifying.  Some said that the highlights were "Rescue" and "Not My Will But Thine."  The set list reached back for some old standards that we haven't sung in a long time, including the addition of a "Water From The Well" children's singing group.  While we are discussing this, do you think it is best to wait five years for the next reunion concert?

Saturday's concert was a blessing, as we met people who traveled all the way from California, Arizona, Western Colorado, Maryland, Georgia and such long distances just to attend the reunion concert.  (Wes, I know you were tired after driving through the night back to Indiana to lead worship the next morning!)  I really believe their answers to this question would be a good barometer.  Since you were willing to travel all the way from Western Colorado just for this reunion concert, we'd like to ask if you'd travel again next year?  Our normal pattern would be to wait five years until the 30th Anniversary - but we would like to hear your thoughts.  Should we host it sooner and add some other elements?

As wonderful as the concert was, I missed hearing "If There Were No God," "I'm At Your Mercy," "Abba Father," "We Have Seen His Glory," "I'm Walking That Line" as well as many other favorites.  It's difficult to select songs with such a collection of material from which to choose.  Of course, there was not enough time to include standards like "Hush," "Criminal On The Cross," "Now To Him" etc.  Thank you for your comments.

My friend Shane, from the Bahamas, sent this photo of TuneTown singing their hearts out during the kick-off of Summer Celebration / ACAFEST at Lipscomb.

I really enjoyed singing "Shut De Do" with these ladies.  With Acappella singing the national anthem before the fireworks, Rodney Britt and Sounds of Glory singing patriotic numbers after experiencing congregational singing with nearly 3,000 people, this was a wonderful evening.
