What a great way for ACAFEST (as part of Lipscomb's Summer Celebration) to kick off in style!  Last night, Sounds of Glory (who opened many ACAFESTS of previous years) sang two different times, including patriotic songs before the fireworks.  Nashville native, Rodney Britt (remember Travelin' Shoes?) sings with the Sounds Of Glory.

I wish someone would send me a photo of the TuneTown Chorus concert.  They were spectacular!  I still believe they are bound to win the international championship contest in Calgary, Canada later this year.

Byron Sommerdahl is busy directing ACAFEST this year.  Byron also is the sound man and road manager for Acappella.

I was given the privilege of leading worship for thousands of Christians last evening in Allen Arena.  The congregational singing was fabulous!

This is funny - I told myself I wasn't going to take pictures of the Fireworks this year, since I've gotten so many from years past (including last year when the Honda Wing Ding was held in Nashville and paraded down to the football stadium for the fireworks.)  But, I couldn't resist.  Here are two shots of the fireworks at the opening of ACAFEST and Summer Celebration.  Acappella sang the national anthem right before the firework display.

It was great to see so many friends last night.  I wish more of you could be here.  I'm teaching Praise & Harmony today and tomorrow, rehearsing with Rodney Britt today and George, Wayburn, Gary and Duane on Friday, to prepare for the big concert on Saturday.
