Dolly Parton wrote the song. I actually prefer her recording of it over Whitney Houston's - I just don't care much for Whitney Houston's style of singing.

the song was featured in a movie musical in 1982, the title of which i don't really want to repeat, but dolly starred in it along with burt reynolds.
