Re: Worship Survey: Worship & Unity
I thought that was the whole reason we had "blended" worship services... to be a unifying experience. Some traditional songs, some contemporary songs, aspects from our representative cultures and ethnicities actually represented.
I believe worship should definitely be a unifying experience. We need to bring everyone present to the throne room -- one heart, one mind, one voice. Re: Worship Survey: Worship & Unity
I agree with Jonathan that a "blended" worship assembly has the potential to foster unity. I also agree that worship - to the extent that it IS worship will be used by the Holy Spirit to create and enhance unity. I believe that the extent to which "worship" is not unifying can often be traced to our own individual desires toward indepencence, our rights, and having things our way. On the other hand, the extent to which we are able to submit to God, focusing on Him and one another, He will work in our hearts and worship will be a unifying corporate experience.
Beyond the obvious sensitivites to differences, song selection, etc. I believe one of the best ways a worship leader can facilitate unity is to simply be engaged in body life, particularly beyond circles of folks he or she may naturally fit with. Establishing connections tends to bring down barriers and ehnance unity. Re: Worship Survey: Worship & Unity

Great points Jonathan and Rick! I pray that we can witness more unity and less selfishness. - KL

If I may be so bold as to plug my own blog here...
I wrote a post yesterday about a different take on blended worship. Nothing big or controversial asserted there, just some different/unusual thoughts about how maybe blended worship affects people. Comments are always welcome. It's somewhat on-topic with Keith's blog post here. Re: Re: Worship Survey: Worship & Unity
