one of my favorite memories of my dad is when I was a little girl and we were in the car traveling from FL to KY. My mom and sisters were in a separate car, and since I was daddy's girl, I wanted to ride with him. We were passing through Chattanooga when I began to notice all the signs that say "See Rock City" and "See Ruby Falls" one after another. Finally I asked my dad what it was and he said he wasn't sure, he'd never been. So we rode a while longer and suddenly dad got off on an exit. I asked why we were stopping and he said "I thought we might want to go see Ruby Falls!" So, we took a little detour, just the two of us and saw one of the most beautiful underground waterfalls I've ever seen. It was always a special memory for me but even more so today on Father's day - the first I've ever had to spend without my dad who passed away in December two days before Chritstmas. He was the best dad a girl could ask for and I love him very much.

My dad is the best in the world!!! :)
He is very spontaneous sometimes. Aren't you dad? One of my favorite memories is when all of us four kids were eating dinner on one of our Tuesday night family nights and we were talking about how much we love Disney world. All of a sudden my dad is like "You guys wana go?" and we were like YEAH!!!! He was like how about tomorrow morning? We were like YEAAAHHHH!!!! He said "Sharon is that ok if we leave in a few hours?" My mom was like "Sure hunny if you want to." We were all home schooled because we traveled so much, so quick planned trips were ok. So us kids didnt even finish dinner we were so excited. We packed and left the next morning at 5am for a week long Disney vacation. Thats one of my good memories. Also, on our family nights my dad would teach the whole family a new scripture every week. So we memorized a lot of scriptures that way. He made it fun though and added music to verses that were long or more difficult to help us memorize it. I love my daddy. Re: Father's Day Memory
One of my "favorite" memories with my dad was near the end of his life. His primary lateral schlorosis had taken him to a point where he was dependent on my mom for almost everything. One weekend when she was gone, I was priveleged to fill that role. What I realized that weekend was this man who had been so independent had somehow learned how to allow others to care for him without making us feel guilty about having to care for him. What a loving life lesson! I hope I have learned it well.

It seems that family vacations and trips can make a lasting, positive impact on families. With the rising price of gas, I realize that it makes it more difficult for many families, but the memories can be just as special when going to a nearby park or local place of interest with the entire family. - KL
