Of course, the Houston area received the brunt of the hurricane damage. Yet, I found it surprising that in Kentucky, there have been 300,000 cases of power outages resulting from Ike. Sunday morning, while leading worship in Paducah, we experienced spikes in power and witnessed the results of very strong winds. Do any of you have family and friends who were affected by the swath of this storm?

Keith,
you know that area is where I am from. There was much damage in Lake Jackson (home town) and have many family members in that area. My brother lives just north of Houston and they remain without electricity at this time. I talked to mom and dad the day the storm moved in and the eye of the hurricane went directly over mom and dad's house in East Texas. Still a catagory one storm over 200 miles inland. A lot of wind damge at their house and just restored electricity yesterday afternoon. I am thanking God that none of my family were hurt on the coast or in East Texas. Please keep all of these people in your prayers. Texans are tough but still need God's help. Terry Cheatham Re: Power Outages From Ike
Ohio was hit pretty hard by the winds. On Sunday, close to 2million were without power. Most schools in our area (Dayton) were closed on Monday and Tuesday, some started to open today. My parents and grandparents are still with out power (since Sunday), and my parents probably won't get it back until over the weekend. As of last night, there were still 155,000 in the Dayton area without power.
We were very thankful to return home Sunday evening after driving in the wind all day to a house with power, and no major damage to the house. Re: Power Outages From Ike

Way up here in Valparaiso, IN and the Chicago area we had some pretty serious flooding. Lots of people having water in their basements, schools closing, roads washed out, etc. Massive storm.

From Hanna to Ike in one week. You're going to become experienced at hurricanes.
It was great having you back in Summerville last week. Kevin Re: Power Outages From Ike

Our son in Fairfield Ohio was hit by the strong winds, lot a lot of tree limbs and one came down on the edge of the roofline, been without power until Monday night. Other people on his street are still without power. He has been busy cutting up tree limbs, power saws are buzzing. Kroger is still without milk and frozen food from the outage. We are grateful that no one was hurt and the house looks ok but will wait and see what the insurance company has to say about the damage.

Here in Columbus, Ohio we have had widespread power outages and some won't get power back until Sunday night...where I live, we did not loose power, but some other neighbors on our street have...I have lived in Columbus for 20 years and off and on for the past 6 years and I have never seen anything like this...But we are ok and we are helping neighbors that don't have power
Re: Power Outages From Ike
We lost power last Friday night at 11:19 PM. Thanks to a generous neighbor sharing his generator, we have a working refrigerator, TV, internet, a fan, and a couple of lights. Almost one week later, power has been restored to many around us, but not our block. Many in the Houston area have it worse than we do, but it is still very frustrating.
