Even though we have an audience of One, there are individual opinions of each human that get in the way. And of course mine is the only one that is right! (ha ha)

One way is the potential for there being at least one person in every congregation who is more interested in "singing my songs" than in worship.

After many years of being a "song leader" I was finally given the reigns to start a praise team. We grew together as friends and worshippers. It was wonderful. But then came those who wanted to be on the praise team for the wrong reasons. It was obvious what their focus was. I refused to let them use the church for their own glory. One left the church altogether telling me that I caused her to lose her spirit to worship. Another didn't think she had to addition to sing for God. I agreed and asked her to sing from the pews. Many rewards, many disappointments.
