Okay, I would not have believed this had I not heard it on television (so it must be true, right?) Do you remember Bubbles the chimp, one of Michael Jackson's favorite pets? Apparently, Bubbles grew far beyond his cute, cuddly stage and was moved to Florida, to live comfortably there. The news story claimed that he was taught to moon walk. But here's the kicker . . . someone offered to fly Bubbles to Los Angeles for the Michael Jackson Memorial. No kidding? I don't hear of animals attending funerals that often, do you?

Here's a report I did not need to hear . . . Last week, a study actually revealed that people who are overweight live longer. Yes, that was the report. I did not hear a mention of how much weight or to what degree, but considering my struggle in controlling weight gain, this report did not need to grace my ears. (Isn't it odd how conflicting reports surface all the time, contradicting previous announcements?) On second thought, I suppose it wasn't the Twinkies that killed Elvis, but the drug abuse.

It happened again. While at the airport in St. Louis this week, I heard a loud voice directed toward me, coming from the only other person within a reasonable distance. I almost responded to his words, only to discover he was wearing one of those blue tooth phone attachments on his ear and talking to someone (looking quite odd, as if talking to himself loudly.) Remind me not to do this. Or, if I start doing this, take me off the assembly line. Gently.

I made the plunge. I now have Rosetta Stone on my computer so I can begin learning Brazilian Portuguese in earnest. There will not be enough time to make a difference for our tour to Brazil later this month with the Acafellas (ACAPPELLA), but at least I can get a start on next year. We have a passion for the churches and the wonderful people of Brazil. Obrigado.

ACAFEST 2009 was a wonderful experience! The variety of hearing Russian vocalists presenting classical music, mixed with a solo R&B artist (former member of The Gap Band), combined with praise teams from Indiana, Kansas, Oklahoma and so much more, brought quite a buffet of a cappella Christian music to Music City. Of course, I was very proud of The Vocal Union, Durant, AVB and ACAPPELLA. This quality event was very affordable, especially with dorm housing available to families on a budget. I'm wondering how we can promote this so that more can enjoy this summer family getaway. Any ideas?

Radio, Radio! Get ads playing in key markets where a capella signing is still popular...a local tv commercial is cool...cheaper routes would be web banners and ads. Locally I would make flyers and put them everywhere. We need to let people know it's affordable and fun. You can also look into meeting with Christian companies like Hobby Lobby, Exodus Wellness Center, Chic fil a and many others and getting them to promote the event. I would also begin advertising 6 months early on a light scale then ramp it up about 3 months away. Stress the different styles and spotlight those styles in areas where they would best be recieved. In southern markets really push Southern Gospel style (Vocal Union). In the Citiies go with more Durant and Acappella style pushes. Also it would be great to get Acappella for an opening act for a larger more popular group....like Mercy Me or FFH just to build up the fan base again. Just a few thoughts from a huge fan.

I thought the event was near perfect. The affordability was very helpful in making it a "doable" deal, especially after our travel expenses from KC. I know my group and I will be promoting the event for next year, just because we're excited about it. Thanks for letting us be a part! We had a fabulous first time as a family at ACAFEST and Summer Celebration. My main thought was to ask you to please hold some kind of class/segment for the teens and kids to participate in P&H style. I so want the next generation to get the power of praising in song...with harmony!

Having the Praise and Harmony recording just before Acafest may have helped some, too. Some of our singers are interested in going back next year for Acafest/Summer Celebration. I've been encouraging our church members to go for a couple of years and now I've got some others helping make the argument.

Keith, i don't knew you would come to Brazil. I'm very happy with this news. I know the work of Acappella since 2000. I like a lot of the music composed by you and many of his songs marked my life. I remember of your voice, how you worship God with her. I was a teenager when I started listening to Acappella, and this was a good time. It's funny, but yesterday I spent the day listening Acappella, to remember the songs. And today I was listening again and i started to seek news about you and I came across the dates when you will be here. It was a surprise.
I sincerely hope find you in Itu and talk with you. And congratulations for wanting to learn Portuguese. To encourage you, i wrote down my message in Portuguese. :) I wait your email. A big hug. Keith, eu não sabia que você viria ao Brasil. Estou muito feliz com esta notícia. Eu conheço o trabalho do acappella desde 2000. |
