How can a “concert mentality” side-track the worship leader?

'Concerts' are intended to entertain, and that is not what a worship service should be about. So therefore the worship leader may become more focused on pleasing the crowd rather than offering and leading the congregation in Spirit-lead worship.

I partially disagree. I do not have a problem with a worship service having some entertainment as long as it is God-centered. If we shouldn't be entertained in worship, then preachers need to stop opening their sermons with a joke. I do agree with the rest of your statement, though!!
The great thing about having screens on which the words and / or music is projected is it gets most of the focus off the worship leader so it really lessens the problem of the him drawing too much attention to himself as might be the case in a concert. |
