Praise & Harmony in Portland

Magnificent singing echoed across the campus of what once was Cascade College, formerly Columbia Christian. Yes, the legacy of Columbia Christian lives on, as I remember the great music that has sprung from this campus, including the original His Heirs singers. A great turnout for our workshop in Portland Saturday evening fueled the enthusiastic atmosphere of fellowship and praise. Everyone fully invested their hearts and voices into the combined worship experience! Some traveled three hours to join us for this event. The spirit of the participants was quite impressive, moving us to look forward to our tour of the North West in April, with the express purpose of helping individual congregations with their singing. Let's teach four-part a cappella singing to successive generations and pass along the torch of praise!

We are looking forward to working with a very special church in Portland, Oregaon - the Agape Church. This group of God's people specializes in inner-city ministry, reaching out to the homeless, abused, runaways and those bound by addictions. They are actively taking God's love to hurting people. Isn't that what our mission should be all about?

I would love to post some photos from this weekend, but my blog is still having difficulties. We are working to upgrade my blog to a brand new platform, so standby. Thank you so much for blessing me with your comments and insights. Blogging is an enjoyable and fruitful supportive activity to our worship and Praise & Harmony ministry.

Question about a cappella Music: Live or Memorex?

Have you ever heard a group's recording and were not impressed, only to find later that you thoroughly enjoy their music in a live performance?

Let me ask the opposite: Have you ever loved a group's recording and been disappointed by their live presentation?

How does a cappella music compare with general music regarding these questions?

The Power of Scripture Songs

I enjoy sharing encouraging messages with you that I receive. Here's another one:

"Keith thank you for the many wonderful scripture songs over the last 25 years or so. I have recently taken over the teaching of the high school class for our congregation and I have chosen to use many of your songs that are directly from scripture as my class material. Today I am using the scripture Heb 1:1-5 Radiance of God's Glory as my class. I am truly grateful for the help in memorizing scripture through song. I have been a fan of Acappella since the days of Traveling Shoes and even His Image. If you have any tips on other songs that are from scripture, I would appreciate the help in the name of the song(s) and I will take it from there. I have almost all of the albums so that is no problem and of course I can just buy songs from you site if I needed to. Once again thanks for the uplifting songs from the time I was a teen to now my kids are singing these same songs and coming closer to our Lord Jesus."

My Blog - Your Thoughts?

Blogging has become quite enjoyable to me for a number of reasons. Perhaps at the top of the list is the ability to connect with friends, make new ones and dialog about topics that are close to my heart. Secondly, it provides an outlet for me to share updates and information about the ministries that are so important to me (Acappella, Praise & Harmony, Worship Leader Institute, Park Plaza Church, etc.) I also discovered that I could finally share the countless photos that would otherwise lie buried on my hard drive; where previously, even I never seemed to find time to review them.

I'm so very thankful for those of you who take the time to visit my humble abode in cyberspace. I'm also especially thankful for Derek Sachs, who actively administers the KeithLancaster.com blog. As I work on upgrading this blog site, I'd love to hear your thoughts. What do you enjoy hearing and reading about? Do you like the survey questions on worship and worship leading? Do I post too many photos from my photography habit? What about the endless quotations that I share (I'm a big fan of one-liners)? Humor? Do trivia questions spice things up and add variety or simply take the focus off my regular priorities and categories?

What are your thoughts and suggestions?
